Where is the Affordable Movers yard?
4719 4th Avenue, Brooklyn NY 11220 — Sunset Park industrial corridor, 12 minutes from the Manhattan Bridge ramp, one BQE exit south of the Verrazano.
What hours does the office keep?
Monday through Saturday, 7am to 6pm. Sunday by appointment if the move date forces it. Rachel returns voicemails inside an hour during posted hours.
How fast can you quote a walkup?
Video walkthrough turns around same day if Anthony is at the desk. In-home estimates land inside 48 hours for Brooklyn addresses. Both produce a written binding flat.
Do you do same-day moves?
Occasionally, if a truck and a crew are free. Call the 4th Avenue desk — Rachel checks the board, Marco or Tariq confirms. Premium rate applies for under-48-hour bookings.
What does the deposit cover?
$255 holds the date on the calendar and credits against the final invoice. Refundable if you cancel by noon five business days before move day. No deposit, no date.
How is the binding flat calculated?
Anthony measures cube, counts floors and stair turns, checks COI and ASP requirements, then writes a figure Mitch signs. Truck rolls, figure stands — no surprise add-ons.
What if my move goes over the estimated time?
On hourly jobs the meter runs at $215 an hour. On binding flat jobs the figure is the figure, regardless of how long the carry takes. Read the contract before you sign.
Do you supply boxes and packing materials?
Yes — small / medium / large boxes, wardrobe, dish-pack, archive, custom wood crates for heirloom pieces. Sold separately or rolled into a Saturday pack-out service.
What about insurance beyond the federal $0.60?
Full-value protection available on quote, priced by declared value. Our $1M federal cargo policy covers the truck. COI to property management included on co-op & condo jobs.
Will you pull the curb permit?
Yes — Rachel files the Streets & San permit five business days ahead. We route the truck against the alternate-side calendar so the carry stays legal.
Do you store between leases?
Climate-controlled storage at the 4th Avenue yard off the BQE. Daily or by the month. Common for closings that slip a week or board reviews that drag.
How do I file a claim if something gets damaged?
Email Yelena with photos and the invoice number. Federal nine-month claim window per FMCSA rule. We respond inside three business days, settle inside thirty.
