Brownstone & Townhouse Relocations

1880s Park Slope brownstones, 1840s Cobble Hill federals, Fort Greene Italianates, Carroll Gardens rows — the borough’s housing stock is older than half the state. Stairs turn ninety degrees at the third landing. Banisters are original walnut. Parlor floors are wide-plank pine. Marco’s crew works in this stock six days a week.

Brownstone protocol

  • Walnut banister wraps from stoop to top landing
  • Quilted floor runners on parlor pine, never paper
  • Door-jamb shields on every interior frame
  • Wide-plank corner blocks on the staircase turn
  • Stoop padding so the dolly doesn’t score the bluestone
  • Drop cloths on the parlor mantle if it’s a tight angle

Voice from the curb

The federal-era ones — the 1840s blocks in Cobble Hill — you can’t rush them. The plaster is lath, not drywall. One nicked corner is a $900 patch from a real plaster guy. So we walk it. — Marco Esposito, North Brooklyn chief

Questions?

Service FAQ

Do you have to disassemble the antique armoire?
Usually no. Most parlor armoires clear the stairwell with the doors off and the crown lifted. Marco decides on the walkthrough — nothing comes apart without your sign-off.
What if my brownstone has the steep four-foot stoop?
We bring an extra mover for the stoop carry. The hourly stays $215 — the fourth body is rolled into the binding flat figure Anthony writes.
Can you patch the wall if something marks it?
Anything that leaves a mark we patch ourselves the next day — spackle, sand, paint match. Larger gouges go through our $1M cargo coverage on the BOL.
Do you move pianos in brownstones?
Yes — uprights to the third floor with a stair-climbing rig, baby grands to the parlor only. Tariq’s rigging crew handles the four-strap lift.
Will you store between closings?
Sunset Park yard off the BQE holds residential loads short-term, daily or monthly billing. Whole-house brownstone load typically runs 240 to 360 cubic feet.
