Pianos, Safes & Heirloom Lifts

Uprights through a 1880s parlor doorway, baby grands lifted to the second floor of a Brooklyn Heights pre-war, gun safes hauled up a brownstone stoop — the rigging work is a separate booking. Tariq came up in the trade lifting uprights into Crown Heights walkups. Four-strap rig, walk-boards, e-track tie-downs, every piece tagged.

What the rigging crew brings

  • Four-strap piano rig with shoulder harness
  • Stair-climbing dolly rated to 700 lb
  • Walk-boards for stoop-to-truck transitions
  • E-track straps and rubber chocks in the box
  • Quilted upright board for parlor doorway scrape
  • Soft cotton gloves on the rosewood and ebony keys

What it costs

Piece Stairs Lift figure
Upright Up to 3 flights From $495
Baby grand Parlor floor $695-895
Gun safe, 600-800 lb Up to 2 flights $595-825
Antique armoire Standard turn $295-395

Standalone or paired

You can book the piano alone — that’s the $495 base. Or fold it into the household move; the rigging crew rides the second truck on the same date, the strap work happens before the household load goes on, and the lift figure rolls into the binding total. — Tariq Williams

Questions?

Service FAQ

Can you get a baby grand into a 1880s parlor?
Most of the time yes — legs off, lyre wrapped, board on its side through the doorway. Tariq looks at the doorway and the stairwell first; nothing comes off the truck until he’s called it.
What if my piano needs tuning after the lift?
Most uprights and baby grands drift a quarter step after relocation. We work with two Park Slope tuners and can book the visit for two weeks out so the instrument has settled.
Do you move gun safes up brownstone stoops?
Up to 800 lb on the stair-climbing dolly, two flights maximum. Heavier or higher gets a hoist quote — Tariq walks the building first to call it.
What coverage does a piano carry?
Our $1M cargo policy on the truck plus released-value $0.60 per pound. Owners often write a separate piano rider into their HO-6 — ask your broker for the deductible.
How far ahead should I book a piano lift?
Ten days for a standalone, longer if it’s a fifth-floor walkup. Tariq runs one rigging crew — lead time keeps the date locked.
