55+ Estate Downsizing

Estate downsize is its own job — not a one-bedroom local with a different label. Forty-plus years in a Bay Ridge brick row, a Brooklyn Heights pre-war held since 1978, parents’ pieces in three rooms that need to find children, charity and the Red Hook auction floor. Rachel runs a separate intake; pace is the variable, not the price.

How the day actually moves

  1. Sit-down with you and the adult children at the kitchen table
  2. Tag pieces in every room — goes, donate, family, auction
  3. Pack and load on the pace you set, not on a stopwatch
  4. Donation pickup the same week, Salvation Army or Housing Works
  5. Family pieces routed under one bill of lading by Tariq

Senior pricing notes

Same $215 hourly rate — no senior surcharge, no senior discount theatre. Two-mover crew unless the brownstone needs three. No clock pressure — if the day runs long because we paused to box family photos, we don’t round up the invoice at the end.

Off-state snowbird coordination

  • Bill-of-lading routed to the seasonal address
  • Storage hold in Sunset Park between snowbird stints

Service FAQ

Can you handle a move tied to probate or estate settlement?
Yes — the inventory at load is itemized, photographed and signed. Yelena formats the list to whatever the estate attorney or executor needs for the probate file.
What if my parents only want to move part of the house?
We work room by room on the pace they set. Rachel tags every piece on intake — goes, donate, family. Nothing moves until they sign the room list.
Do you handle the snowbird back-and-forth to Florida?
Yes — same Affordable crew, same bill of lading. Fall trip down, spring trip back, Sunset Park storage for the in-between stretch. One yearly contract Yelena keeps on file.
Will you donate the pieces that aren’t going?
We schedule the Housing Works or Salvation Army truck for the same week. The donation receipt goes back in your folder for the tax write-off come April.
What about the family pieces going to children out of state?
Tag them at intake and we’ll route under the long-haul desk — same crew, federal authority, $1M cargo. One bill of lading even if pieces land in three different states.
